This is the outcome of my shoot for my Oil Control setting spray. I chose to shoot it outside in the woods and also against a black slate background, as I feel the natural lighting makes the metallic lips and eye make-up stand out and the dark back grounds also go with the dark make-up. I would have perhaps preferred the look without the lashes as they are quite visible in some images.

Urban Decay Extra Product Look: Moodboard
Make-Up Moodboard
Hair Moodboard:
For my extra product, I have decided to use Urban Decay's 'De Slick' Oil Control Make-Up Setting Spray. I will create an Oil Slick type make-up look on the lips and a glittery green smokey eye to go with the Oil Slick name and the bottle design, but will keep the skin matte. For the hair, I will create 2 five strand plaits and wrap them around each other to create a high plaited bun and I will keep it messy to go with Urban Decays advert campaigns that feature messy hair. I will use a fair skinned blonde haired model for this look so that the detail of the plaits show up well in the hair and so that the dark make-up shows up against the pale skin.
This is my face chart for the Oil Slick look. I will start by mixing matte primer with 'Alabaster' and 'G177' foundation and buff into the skin well. I will then contour using 'OB2' foundation and blend it out. Then I will powder the skin well and apply 'Ambition' blush to the cheeks. For the eyes, I will line the upper waterline with a black MAC pencil and then prime the eyes. I will then apply Urban Decay shadow in 'Zodiac' all over the lid and 'Loaded' shadow in the outer corner and crease and blend under the lower lash line. I will then fill in the brows neatly with Georgio Armani brow gel and apply mascara to the upper an lower lashes and then apply Urban Decay 'perversion' lashes to the upper lid. Finally, for the lips I will fill them in with a navy Illamasqua eye pencil, and then dab Urban Decay eyeshadows in 'Half-Baked', 'Zodiac' and 'Alchemy' over the lips.

Final Daytime Look
This is my final outcome of my daytime Urban Decay shoot. I chose to photograph the look outside against various textured walls to keep the look plain and simple, and I also wanted to use the natural lighting for my photos. I am pleased with the outcome as she looks fresh and natural which was the look I was aiming for, and I also like the wisps of hair which also add to the natural, un-madeup feel of the images.
I feel this look fits the Urban Decay brand as I used colours from their Naked palettes which they are famous for, and the hair is also a bit messy which is also a prominent feature in their campaigns.

Urban Decay Daytime Look: Moodboards
Make-Up Moodboard:
Hair Moodboard:
These are my hair and makeup mood boards for my daytime look. I have chosen to create a simple look for the makeup using pinky gold hues on the eyes and lips with slightly matte skin and blushed cheeks. For the hair I will create a side parting and do two dutch braids, one either side of the head and bring them into a fishtail braid which'll sit over my models shoulder and I will mess the plaits and pull strands out round the face to give it a more natural and undone look. I have chosen an olive skinned model with very thick long brunette hair as I feel she will suit the look best with her complexion, and the hair style will work well with the large amount of hair she has.
This is my makeup face chart. I will start by mixing satin primer with 'OB2' and 'Olive' foundation and buff into face, neck and ears. I will then slightly contour using 'NB4' and 'FS38' foundation and blend well. Next I will lightly powder the skin and then apply powder blush in 'Ambition' to the apples of the cheeks to give a healthy rosy glow. I will then apply 'glow' highlighter shimmer to the tops of the cheeks, down the centre of the nose and the forehead. For the eyes, apply Urban Decay primer all over the lids and then apply 'Chopper' eyeshadow from the Naked 2 palette all over the lids. Apply 'Toasted' from the Naked palette to the outer corners and the crease and blend well. For the eyebrows, fill in using the screen face dark brown eyeshadow, keep them as neat as possible. Apply a small amount of mascara to the upper and lower lashes and then apply individual lashes in medium and short length on the upper lashes. Finally, for the lips, apply Bobbi Brown lipstick in 'pink apricot shimmer'.

Final Spring Look
This is my final shoot for my Spring Urban Decay look. I chose to photograph it outside to work with the floral hair and to emphasise the Spring feel. I am pleased with the outcome of the shoot, and I like how her wisps of hair blew in the wind to make the hair look slightly dishevelled.
I feel this look suits the Urban Decay brand a they often use purples in their campaigns as it is their signature colour, and I also used one of their Spring sheer lipsticks on the lips.

Urban Decay Spring Look: Moodboards
Make-Up Moodboard:
Hair Moodboard:
For my Spring look for Urban Decay, I will do a fresh look using pastel pinks and lilacs with dewy skin and a sheer berry lip, as that is a big trend for spring and the sheer lipsticks are also in Urban Decays Spring collection. I will team the make-up with my models hair styled in two messy 5 strand plaits wrapped over the top of the head with strands pulled out, and I will clip some blossoms from a tree in my garden to place in the hair to give a real Spring feel to the look.
I will use a blonde haired model with pale freckled skin and blue eyes to keep the look light and fresh and natural.
This is the face chart I have designed for my Spring look. I will start by mixing Illamasqua satin primer with 'Alabaster' foundation and apply to the models face not too heavily to create a light and dewy look. I will then do a very slight contour with 'OB2' foundation and blend well. Next I will apply cream blush in 'Promise' to the apples of the cheeks to give quite a pink rosy look. I will then highlight the upper cheeks, nose and forehead with a powder shimmer. For the eyes, I will prime them and then apply Revolution eyeshadow in 'my deamons' all over the lid up to the brow bone and I will blend it out towards the temple. I will lightly fill in the brows with a light brown eyeshadow and also apply a small amount of mascara to the upper and lower lashes. Finally, for the lips I will apply Urban Decay Sheer Revolution lipstick in 'Shame' lightly to the lips and I will dot some Elizabeth Arden gloss in 'Sweet Pink' in the centre of the lips.

Final Evening Look
This is my shoot for my evening look. I like the way the photos have turned out and how the hair and make-up has photographed. I chose to shoot my look inside in the evening so that I wasn't shooting with natural light. I also think the look works well placed against the backgrounds of the cow skin wall and the coloured wallpaper, as it looks luxurious and elegant which fits in with the evening look. I feel that my look suits the Urban Decay brand, as it is slick and is beauty make-up, but it has a slight edge to it with the back brushed brows and the glitter in the corners of the eyes.

Urban Decay Evening Looks: Moodboards
Make-Up Moodboard:
Hair Moodboard:
For my Urban Decay evening look, I have designed a dark matte smokey eye look with a dark matte lip, back brushed brows and matte skin with highlight, a slight blush, and contour and I will dab some silver glitter in the inner corners of the eye. I will pair this make-up with a sleek low ponytail with a strong side parting in it to create a striking look.
I will be using a dark haired model with pale skin and full eyebrows, as I feel she will suit the look well, and she will also fit in with the Urban Decay look, who often seem to use pale skin models with thick eyebrows.
I will be using a dark haired model with pale skin and full eyebrows, as I feel she will suit the look well, and she will also fit in with the Urban Decay look, who often seem to use pale skin models with thick eyebrows.
This is my designed look. I will start by applying Kryolan foundation in 'Alabaster' mixed with Illamasqua matte primer to the face, ears and neck, blending well. I will then contour the face slightly with 'OB2' foundation and blend well. Then I will powder the skin lightly and apply bronzer to deepen the contoured areas. I will then use an Illamasqua blush in 'Ambition' applied sparingly to the cheeks and finish the skin by brushing highlighter across the cheekbones, centre of the nose, and the forehead. For the eyes, I will line the upper and lower waterline with a black pencil and then prime the eyelids. I will then apply 'defy' eyeshadow from the Urban Decay 'Vice 3' palette all over the lid and crease of the eye and blend the edges well to give a soft smokey look. Then I will apply some silver glitter to the inner corners of the eyes using a primer to help it stick. I will apply mascara to the upper and lower lashes and then apply individual lashes for a more glamourous look. I will fill in her brows with a dark brown shadow and back brush them with clear mascara to make them appear even thicker and to give more of an edge to the look, as the Urban Decay slogan is 'Beauty with an edge'. Finally, I will line and fill the lips with MAC lip pencil in 'chestnut' and finish with MAC 'cyber' lipstick applied on top.

Final High Summer/ Beach Look
I decided to take the makeup and hair design that I did for my timed assessment and re-shoot it, but this time to use as the high summer/ beach look instead, as I felt the look fitted better with this time of the year than it did with Spring/ Summer.
I am much more pleased with the outcome of this shoot than I was of my timed assessment shoot, as I feel the setting of the pool side and the tropical plants offsets the hair and makeup well and really brings a beachy summer vibe to it. I personally also prefer location shoots to studio shoots as they add interest to the final image, and the natural lighting gives a soft glow to the skin which is what I wanted to achieve.
Below are some images that I took on a different camera to the ones above, and the photos have come out with a slight blur on them which gives them a glowing and radiant effect which I like, although the images as a whole are not quite as clear as the ones above, but the blurred glow on them goes with the summer/ beach look quite well.

Urban Decay advertisements vs. other beauty brands
In Urban Decay's advertisements, they seem to have a pattern running through in which they use either the same model, or models of very similar looks, e.g. pale skin, dark hair and thick eyebrows. The majority of photos used are from the shoulders up and portray simple yet bold make-up to capture the audiences attention. However, there are also some exceptions where blonde models are used and occasionally the make-up can take a more artistic edge to it, such as in the 'Electric palette' campaign where bright colours are randomly slathered over the models faces. This shows that their advertising looks can range from high street that reach out to the masses, to editorial that may target a more specific audience. The campaigns are most often shot in a studio environment or often with a bold patterned background.

Brands that are often categorised with Urban Decay, a high end high street brand, are 'Benefit' and 'MAC'. MAC's advertising can also range from high street relatable to very editorial and high end, and often use celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Brooke Shields to name a few, to model for their campaigns and endorse their brand. MAC advertisements are perhaps more fashion forward and editorial than those of Urban Decay. MAC also use a wider range of models than Urban Decay and they too seem to photograph their campaigns in the studio setting.

Benefit's style of advertising is very different to both Urban Decay and MAC, as they often use dolls and cartoon like figures, or they have a very retro style in their campaigns with pin up girls, it is sometimes difficult to tell if the models are real or if they are cartoon images or drawings. Urban Decay and MAC are the most editorial of the 3 brands.
